Visit Philippines Year 2015

Manila – The Department of Tourism (DoT) has launched its new campaign “VisitPH2015” which aims to attract some 8.2 million visitors next year. The latest program is set to recover the stature of the Philippines as the preferred Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions (MICE) destination in the international scene.

“We have been absent for so long in MICE. We used to be number one in MICE in Asia during the 80’s and ranked eighth in the world. However, we weren’t able to sustain it and unfortunately, we are now at the tail-end with neighboring countries overtaking us.” Domingo Ramon Enerio III, CEO of the DOT’s Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) said.

In a study released by World Travel Trends Report 2013/2014, “MICE has grown much faster than traditional business travel since 2009. The MICE segment now accounts 54% of the total business travel market.”

Alternatively dubbed as “Visit Philippines Year 2015” (VPY2015), DOT invites tourism shareholders to register their activities in the year round calendar of www.visitph2015.com  while providing information about the event. However, “To qualify, the event must be of international and national significance. It should have the opportunity to promote a destination.” Enerio added.

The website already features some of the biggest events for 2015, like the Papal Visit in January, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and the 70th of Liberation of the Philippines annoversary. It also enlists some of the distinguished festivals in the country like Sinulog And Panagbenga Festival on its cultural section. While MTV Music Evolution and One Direction’s “On the Road Again” concert in March are both presented in Music & Arts section. Also, the highly anticipated Madrid Fusion in April which is tagged as the most important culinary conference of the 21st century.

Enerio also clarified that the national campaign will not replace the successful “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign but rather sustain and refresh the existing tourism campaign.

“The “Its More Fun” campaign is focused on people, VisitPH2015 on the other hand, is about events, with these potent combination, we guarantee our tourists of having a good time in our country,” Enorio added.

To introduce the VisitPH2015 DoT also unveiled its new AVP.
